RICHMOND, Va., Sept. 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Schools and educational institutions in 11 states are entering the new academic year with Dominion funding for major projects.
Dominion has awarded more than $350,000 in educational grants this year to 70 schools and institutions in Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
"It is clear our educators are preparing students to meet the needs of the future by focusing their studies on renewable energy and the preservation of the environment," said Virginia M. Board, president of The Dominion Foundation. "These are efforts Dominion fully supports."
The Dominion Educational Grants Partnership Program helps schools strengthen the mathematics and science skills of students in grades K-12. The grants are made through The Dominion Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Dominion Resources.
The Foundation awards individual grants of up to $10,000. The company has awarded nearly $3.3 million since the program began in 1996.
