Dominion Virginia Power Worker Dies In Accident

RICHMOND, Va. – A Dominion Virginia Power groundman died Wednesday while working on a power line near Richmond.

Curtis F. Lane, 31, of Bumpass, Va., was electrocuted while working near Oilville in Goochland County, just west of Richmond, at about 1 p.m. Lane and a lineman were removing a power line between two poles when the accident occurred.

The company is investigating the accident. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been notified.

Lane, who joined the company in March 2000, is survived by his wife and a child. His death was the first for a member of a Dominion Virginia Power line crew since 1991.
