$50,000 Up For Grabs In Community Impact Awards

Dominion East Ohio is seeking local projects that have promoted the economic or social revitalization of communities for the eighth annual Community Impact Awards competition. A total of $50,000 in unrestricted grants will be awarded.

The program, sponsored by Dominion East Ohio and Inside Business Magazine, recognizes cities and community organizations that have made major contributions to the economic and social revitalization of communities within the Dominion East Ohio service territory. Entry deadline is Nov. 1, 2002. Winners will share in the $50,000 from the Dominion Foundation.

The Guidelines:

  • Project must have been completed between July 2001 and August 2002.
  • Project must have made a major contribution to the economic or social revitalization of communities in northeast Ohio.
  • Project must be located within the Dominion East Ohio service area.
  • Organizations must be 501c(3) or have an eligible fiscal agent.

To Enter:

  • Submit a brief summary--no more than three typewritten pages--of the project. Support materials, such as photos, press clippings or literature that represents the project can also be included. Submit all material in a three-ring binder. The following judging criteria should be used as a basis for the summary:
  1. Give a brief description/history of the community or organization.
  2. Describe the project the community or organization completed to promote economic and/or social revitalization. Include objectives, benefits, impact and measurable results and community interests/involvement.
  3. To what extent did the project generate positive change and growth within its targeted area?
  4. How many people were impacted/served by this project?
  5. How will the results of this project encourage and promote future development and revitalization?
  6. Community impact: What effect has the project had in terms of jobs, spending and taxes?
