RICHMOND, Va. - Dominion Energy, the electric generating unit of Dominion (NYSE: D), supplied a winter record one-hour amount of power Thursday evening as unusually cold weather gripped the East Coast.
The company's diverse mix of power stations generated an unofficial 16,133 megawatts of electricity Thursday between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Although the amount of electricity still must be verified, there is little doubt that Dominion surpassed the previous wintertime peak of 15,072 megawatts generated on Jan. 28, 2000.
"While we haven't had a cold spell like this for several years, Dominion is ready to keep homes warm and lights on. We have adequate supplies of electricity as we move further into the winter months," said Thomas F. Farrell, II, president and chief executive officer.

Dominion has a diversified and integrated energy portfolio consisting of about 24,000 megawatts of generation. Dominion also serves more than 3.8 million franchise natural gas and electric customers in five states. For more information about Dominion, visit the company's Web site at www.dom.com.
