Dominion Accepting Applications For Scholarships To Lineman College

RICHMOND, Va. – Dominion Virginia Power is accepting applications for scholarships from men and women who are interested in attending Southeast Lineman College in Georgia.

The Trenton, Ga., college offers a 15-week training program that will enable linemen to earn up to $40,000 annually upon graduation.  The scholarship covers all costs of the program, including equipment, tools and furnished apartments.  To participate, applicants must:

  • Have completed their high school degree or GED;
  • Have a valid driver's license;
  • Be able to lift at least 75 pounds;
  • Weigh no more than 290 pounds for safety reasons;
  • Reside within a 50-mile radius of one of Dominion’s Northern Virginia offices.

The deadline for applying is Oct. 31.  The selection process includes an interview.  Classes will be held from Jan. 2, 2007, to April 13, 2007. Graduates will be placed in job openings exclusively in the Northern Virginia area.
