A Holiday Gift Idea from Dominion: Energy Gift Certificates

December 5, 2006

RICHMOND, Va. –Just in time for the holidays: gift certificates for electricity or natural gas supplied by Dominion, one of the nation’s largest energy producers.

Dominion Virginia Power and Dominion North Carolina Power, which provide franchise electric service in Virginia and northeastern North Carolina, respectively, and Dominion East Ohio, which provides franchise natural gas service in Ohio, offer the certificates.  Dominion is working with CertifiChecks, the nation’s largest provider of merchant gift certificates, to make these energy gifts certificates available to its customers.

“Many of our customers have asked for these certificates, so we’re happy to make them available as a practical gift for family, friends or anyone who would appreciate a little help with their utility bills,” said David Green, vice president-Customer Service.  “All the recipients have to do is send the gift certificate in with their monthly payment coupon.”

The gift certificates, which have no expiration date, can be shipped from CertifiChecks to either the buyer or the recipient.  When redeemed, the certificates are treated as payments by Dominion.  Overpayments are credited to the customer’s account.

Gift certificates can be purchased online at www.dom.com in denominations of $10, $25, $50, $75, $100 and $250, or by calling CertifiChecks at toll-free 1-877-770-4438.  Shipping and handling fees apply.  Anyone can buy the certificates, but only Dominion customers can redeem them.

Dominion customers who pay their monthly bill electronically through the company’s eBill system also can redeem gift certificates by mailing them to the company.  The eBill customer’s name, address and account number should be sent in with the certificates.  Certificates also can be used at any walk-in Dominion Authorized Payment Center location.

Dominion is one of the nation's largest producers of energy, with an energy portfolio of about 28,000 megawatts of generation.  For more information about Dominion, visit www.dom.com.
