RICHMOND, Va. – Dominion Virginia Power has issued the following statement on the action today of the Virginia Air Pollution Control Board to approve air permits for the company’s proposed Virginia City Hybrid Energy Center in Wise County, Va.:

It is designed to meet strict emissions limitations while burning a mix of fuels, including coal, coal waste known as "gob," and biomass. The $1.8 billion project would begin commercial operation in 2012.
