Dominion Donates $75,000 to Red Cross Disaster Relief

Donation assists victims of April 16 tornadoes in eastern Virginia and North Carolina

RICHMOND, Va., May 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Dominion Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Dominion Resources Inc., has donated $75,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to help families affected by tornadoes that struck the eastern regions of North Carolina and Virginia on April 16.

"In this time of need, we want to provide a helping hand to the communities, families, friends and neighbors whose lives were changed forever by the destruction the tornadoes left behind," said Rodney Blevins, Dominion's vice president of Distribution Operations. "The families and business owners in these counties are our friends and neighbors as well as our customers. We want to be there for them in this difficult time."

Dominion made a $50,000 donation to the American Red Cross to benefit Gloucester, Middlesex and Isle of Wight counties and the city of Williamsburg in Virginia; and a $25,000 donation to the chapter in Bertie County, N.C. The contributions will provide emergency services such as food, clothing, shelter, counseling and other assistance to people affected by the storms.
