$20,000 Donation From Cirro Energy to Open New Wing at Plano Children’s Medical Clinic

PLANO, Texas – Oct. 26, 2010 – Cirro Energy, a subsidiary of Dominion Resources, will present a $20,000 check to Plano Children’s Medical Clinic on Oct. 26 to open the new “More than Medicine” Cirro Energy Wing in North Texas. Local dignitaries and city officials including Plano Mayor Phil Dyer, Plano Mayor Pro Tem Lee Dunlap, Collin County Commissioner Matt Shaheen and others have committed to attend the ceremony to celebrate the opening of the wing and welcome Cirro Energy to its new corporate headquarters in Plano.

“This donation will help Plano Children’s Medical Clinic support the community in new and creative ways,” said Mike Rose, managing director of Cirro Energy. “The new wing will be used to educate parents on how to tackle childhood health issues, so our team felt strongly about supporting the initiative. In fact, our employees donated their time to paint and prepare the wing so it could be ready for service as soon as possible.”

The new “More than Medicine” Cirro Energy Wing will provide much needed health supplies such as thermometers, baby care items, clothing and nutritional supplements. Medical professionals at the clinic will teach parents the importance of preventative medicine and provide these items for free. Suited up in their red baseball jerseys, Team Cirro Energy employees donated over 100 pieces of clothing plus essential items to stock the wing, and have committed to on-going support.

Over the last 19 years, the clinic has provided care to more than 100,000 patients with over 16,000 patient visits in 2009. Patient ages range from infant to 18 years who are on Medicaid, CHIP or have no insurance.

“We’re grateful that Cirro Energy is investing in our community,” added Susan Shuler, executive director for Plano Children’s Medical Clinic. “With this generous gift, we can continue to offer high quality healthcare education to those who need it the most, while also preventing some of the issues before they happen. Cirro Energy is a great addition to Plano, and we welcome them to the city.”

According to Public Utilities Commission of Texas data, Cirro’s relocation to Plano will make it the only Retail Electricity Provider (REP) in the community as of Sept. 30. The company was originally headquartered in Richardson, Texas, but is now located in Plano. Cirro employees sought out the clinic, which received $5,000 dollars from the company in 2009, to see if they could lend additional support.

“We appreciate the wonderful support that Cirro Energy is providing to the Plano Children's Medical Clinic,” noted Plano Mayor Phil Dyer. “This is a great example of corporate citizenship and community involvement. Cirro's dedication and commitment to serving others will help make Plano an even better place for all of us."

Last December, Cirro Energy presented grants to area food banks as part of a $1 million gift nationwide from Dominion.

A subsidiary of Dominion Resources, Inc., Cirro Energy is a Texas retail electric provider that supplies 3.3 million megawatt hours of competitively priced electricity annually to approximately 100,000 residential and commercial customers in Texas.
