Dominion Urges Customers to Prepare For Summer Storms Today and Hurricane Arthur Friday

RICHMOND, Va. – Dominion Virginia/North Carolina Power is preparing for a series of severe weather events across Virginia and eastern North Carolina beginning with thunderstorms today and Hurricane Arthur’s arrival expected early Friday.

Dominion encourages customers across its service area to prepare now for possible power outages that could occur as early as this afternoon as heavy lightning, rain and winds move through the area. Hampton Roads and North Carolina customers should prepare for the possibility of Hurricane Arthur’s impact as early as Friday morning.

Operations centers have been fully staffed and will deploy additional crews and resources to areas where the greatest impact is anticipated. Crews are gathering equipment, double-checking bucket trucks and other vehicles to ensure they are stocked with materials, and making preparations to ensure a safe and rapid response during restoration.
