DVI Introduces EDGE Stabilizer™ to Manage Distributed Energy Resources on the Grid

- New product helps utilities better support distributed energy resources by managing voltage compliance
- Integrates detailed weather forecasts to anticipate voltage volatility
- Leverages smart inverters to mitigate secondary voltage swings
- Product to debut at DistribuTECH conference on February 9-11, 2016 in Orlando

RICHMOND, Va., Feb. 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Dominion Voltage, Inc. (DVI), a grid optimization subsidiary of Dominion Resources, Inc. (NYSE: D), today announced the launch of EDGE Stabilizer™, a patent-pending addition to its industry-leading suite of voltage optimization products for use at utilities with high levels of distributed energy resources (DER), such as solar and wind. EDGE Stabilizer provides the utility with the ability to manage the impact of DER and to operate their grid more efficiently.

"Market forces are significantly increasing the amount of DER, and utilities need cost effective ways to safely and efficiently integrate DER into their grids," said Todd Headlee, executive director of DVI. "In areas with high levels of DER, EDGE Stabilizer minimizes the need for additional costly hardware devices or other distribution system upgrades by orchestrating the use of existing residential smart inverters, large scale inverters, load tap changers, capacitors, voltage regulators and AMI/smart meters to ensure utility customer voltages remain in compliance."

EDGE Stabilizer integrates detailed weather forecasts to anticipate voltage volatility on a circuit by circuit basis. When used in conjunction with DVI's EDGE Manager® dynamic voltage control application, utilities gain the additional benefit of energy and demand savings while supporting increasing amounts of DER. DVI will be demonstrating EDGE Stabilizer and its other offerings in booth #827 at DistribuTECH, the leading energy industry conference on February 9-11, 2016 in Orlando, Florida.
